Top club pushing to agree £65m deal for United star, player asked to accept transfer imminently – report

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has until Thursday to give the green light to Al-Hilal over a summer transfer, as per reports.

United’s defeat in Bilbao ensured the Red Devils will not play in any European competition next season. The absence of European football is expected to have a major impact on the club’s finances and could open the floodgates at Old Trafford this summer.

In order to revamp Ruben Amorim’s squad, INEOS may have to sell several of their high-earning stars, and this has seemingly given motivation to Al-Hilal to push for the signing of Fernandes.

The Portugal international has been on their radar for months but in recent days, the Saudi Pro League outfit have intensified their pursuit, especially after the 30-year-old suggested he is open to leaving United to help the club.

According to Givemesport, Al-Hilal have submitted a final contract offer worth in the region of £700,000-per-week to lure Fernandes to Saudi.

It is suggested he could take home close to £65million each season when factors like signing-on fee and bonuses are taken into consideration.

The outlet claim Fernandes has been “warned” by the Riyadh-based outfit that he has until Thursday to “make a final call” on whether he is prepared to complete a switch from United.

Al-Hilal are determined to add marquee names to their ranks before the Club World Cup in June and will move onto alternative targets after Thursday.

The Saudi giants’ preferred target was Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah but that failed pursuit has now left them with a huge budget to test Fernandes and United’s resolve.

The Mancunians could do with a major sale but it is going to be near impossible to replace Fernandes with just one player.

Amorim would have to find a way to replace his captain’s output in the final third as well as his intense work without the ball.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report suggesting United are eyeing two new number tens. A verbal agreement has been reached to sign Matheus Cunha and talks have been held for Bryan Mbeumo.
