Manchester United are no closer to solving Paul Pogba’s contract situation and the Red Devils could reportedly look to sell the midfielder to Paris Saint-Germain rather than let him leave for free next summer.

The midfielder is believed to be content to see out the final 12 months of his contract before making a decision on his future in 2022.

Extending his stay at United remains open but the 28-year-old has interest from PSG and former club Juventus, with the former reportedly in advanced talks over a move.

United paid Juve around £86m to sign Pogba in 2016 and will likely want to recoup at least some of that money, especially as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the middle of a big summer upgrade of his squad.

The Old Trafford hierarchy might choose to sell Pogba this summer for as much as possible rather than risk him departing for nothing next year.

Le 10 Sport have reported that United want around £70million for Pogba and a further update by Canal Supporters suggest that talks over a move to PSG are advanced.

The report claims that personal terms are close to being agreed and that Pogba could soon join the Ligue 1 side.

A high fee for Pogba would add a vital cash injection to United’s transfer budget as Solskjaer aims to topple rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Tom Heaton has already been signed on a free transfer from Aston Villa while Jadon Sancho’s £73m move from Borussia Dortmund is expected to be announced soon.

But Solskjaer will be forced to source a replacement for Pogba if he departs. Express Sport pick out three possible transfers.

Leon Goretzka

Like Pogba, Goretzka has less than a year remaining on his contract at Bayern Munich and will be a free agent if fresh terms are not agreed before the summer of 2022.

The German is widely believed to be a target for United and they could be tempted into an offer if Pogba departs.

Goretzka is a box-to-box midfielder and there are few players among the elite game would be more of an ideal replacement for Pogba.

He has scored five, six and eight goals in each of his last three Bundesliga campaigns with the Bavarians and would be an excellent addition to United’s midfield.

The 26-year-old is versatile, able to play as a deep midfielder, as a No 8 or just behind a striker.

He has even featured in a wider role for previous club Schalke.

Eduardo Camavinga

Another player who is attracting attention due to entering the final year of his deal at Rennes is teenage sensation Camavinga.

The 18-year-old would cost as little as £25m, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, which would allow United to sell Pogba for £70m, sign Camavinga and still have a healthy £45m remaining to sign another player.

Rennes president Nicholas Holveck recently said that he is open to discussing a move for the midfielder but that any interested clubs would need to pay a premium price.

However, Holveck might not have that power if Camavinga wants to force a move a year ahead of being allowed to leave for free.

Camavinga is an energetic player, has an eye for a pass and carries the ball well. He has already made his senior France debut.

Yves Bissouma

Bissouma been more strongly linked to Liverpool and Arsenal, who both need a midfielder to arrive this summer.

However, Pogba’s potential departure would throw United into the mix for the Brighton star.

The Seagulls are widely understood to value the 24-year-old at around £30m, which would again afford the Red Devils some extra cash if Pogba moves for £70m.

Bissouma is perhaps the least like-for-like replacement for the Frenchman among the trio.

He is far more comfortable in a defensive midfield role and has not scored more than three goals in a season during his career.
