Three clubs ready to meet United’s asking price “without hesitation” for unused substitute vs Fulham – report

Manchester United were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw in their Premier League game against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The visitors started brightly and should have been out of sight within the first half if Matheus Cunha had managed to convert his chances and Bruno Fernandes had not skied his spot-kick.

However, that early momentum fizzled out thanks to Ruben Amorim’s strange substitution calls in the second half and ultimately allowed the Cottagers a way back into the game.

The head coach once again opted to pick Altay Bayindir in goal, despite his Arsenal howler. The Turk was good with his distribution, but looked in trouble from almost all set-pieces.

Onana remained an unused substitute

Tellingly, Andre Onana was sat on the bench, and with talks of a move for Senne Lammens gathering pace, he will be worried about his future, especially now that the Turkiye international is not expected to leave until January.

The Cameroonian was expected to remain No.1, but there have been murmurs that former club Inter Milan are ready to come back in for him.

However, as per CaughtOffside, the Red Devils will only sell him for £30 million, a figure the Serie A side are unlikely to match as things stand.

That does not mean the ex-Ajax ace will remain at Old Trafford, as the report reveals that three of Saudi Arabia’s richest clubs — Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and Al Qadsiyah are monitoring proceedings with interest.

“Inter’s hierarchy are eager to refresh their goalkeeping department and see Onana as a serious candidate for a return, believing he would welcome the opportunity to revive his career back in Serie A.

“United are prepared to entertain offers in the region of £30 million. That figure may prove too steep for Inter, who are also exploring cheaper alternatives, but it is unlikely to deter Saudi clubs.

Lots of interest in Onana

“Strong interest has emerged from the Gulf, with Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and Al Qadsiyah all keeping close tabs on Onana. Unlike Inter, these clubs possess the financial power to meet United’s asking price without hesitation.”

What this means for Andre Onana, only time will tell. He was offered to Saudi Pro League sides in the past as well, but only NEOM SC came forward at that time, and the United No.1 turned them down.

Should Amorim continue to overlook him, there is a chance the 29-year-old might be prepared to jump ship. INEOS won’t mind as long as one of the teams match their valuation.

Given the kind of high-profile errors he has committed since joining, fans will not be too disappointed to see the back of him.
