Managers are so often the ones who face up to the brunt of the criticism, with the role of a Premier League coach an unenviable one when the fans start to turn.
Steve Bruce’s unpopular reign at Newcastle came to an end last month after the 60-year-old left the club by ‘mutual consent’, a decision made to part ways after a reign in which the disgruntled supporters regularly voiced their criticisms.
Bruce failed to win over the St James’ Park crowed with a number of poor performances and results, with the Magpies’ new ownership deciding on change as the club prepare to embark on a new era in the North East.
