Lisandro Martinez could make a major move from Manchester United to Barcelona.
After going all the way to the FIFA World Cup Final 2026 with Argentina before falling short against Spain, the defender is hoping to make the upcoming campaign one of his best.
Barcelona could sign Lisandro Martinez for less than £35 million
Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, is intent on bolstering his side’s defence, with Lisandro Martinez being a key target. According to Spanish reports, the Argentine does not want to renew his contract with Manchester United.
With the gaffer having long admired the tenacious player, Barcelona have given the green light to try and bring him to the Camp Nou. Surprisingly, an offer of €40million (£34.3m) could be enough to secure the services of the 28-year-old.
United wants the sale wrapped up sooner rather than later before making moves for a new defender themselves. The player himself is adamant that his time at Old Trafford has come to an end.
Manchester United chief scout predicted Lisandro Martinez would leave
After Martinez suffered an injury at the World Cup, Manchester United chief scout, Mick Brown, told Football Insider: “When he’s fit, and on it, he’s a really good centre-back. He’s aggressive, he doesn’t let you settle, he wins his duels, and he’s good on the ball as well; he’s such a valuable asset.
“But none of that is any good if he’s always sat in the stands with an injury, so if there’s any indication these issues are going to keep coming up, I expect they’ll look to cut their losses.
“There will be interest from clubs in Spain and elsewhere, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they considered letting him go.”
