Terms agreed for sensational transfer as United work on making deal “official” – report

Manchester United’s summer-long pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo is approaching its conclusion.

On the back of an abysmal campaign, which saw every non-relegated Premier League team bar Everton outscore United in the league, Ineos made a statement of intent by triggering Matheus Cunha’s release clause.

To further strengthen their attack, United also convinced Mbeumo to turn down Champions League clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a move to Old Trafford. However, all that happened over a month ago.

United have been locked in talks with Brentford to find a consensus over the Cameroon international’s transfer fee but the Bees have so far shown reluctance to strike a deal.

Manchester United ready to agree Mbeumo deal

Now, a report in Spain suggests United are prepared to bow down to Brentford’s demands.

According to Fichajes, United are “very close to completing a major deal”, having “agreed” to meet Brentford’s terms.

Over the past few weeks, the London outfit have turned down two bids from United, as they consider Mbeumo an integral part of their attack. Following Ivan Toney’s departure in 2024, the Cameroonian established himself as the side’s most prolific forward.

Now, it is claimed the Mancunians have “decided to accept” the London outfit’s €65 million asking price for the 25-year-old winger.

The Spanish outlet adds that “all that remains is for both parties to finalize the final details to make the transfer official.”

Mbeumo has the potential to be a great buy for United

The arrival of Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals in the Premier League, would be a much-needed confidence boost for Amorim.

The versatile forward is capable of playing as a centre-forward and on the right flank.

His pace, close control and aggressive style of play out of possession would make him an ideal option for the wide playmaker role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
