Erik ten Hag is frustrated by some of Marcus Rashford’s actions at Man United.

Manchester United have endured arguably their worst season in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. The Red Devils have struggled in pretty much every aspect, with Erik ten Hag rightly copping heavy flak as a result.

The Dutchman has not been helped by some of his supposed key performers and big earners. Most notably, Marcus Rashford. The Englishman has endured a notable drop-off in terms of goal contributions and overall output this year. It led to an exclusion from the England squad for the Europan Championships.

Now, The NY Times (subscription required) have provided an update on Ten Hag’s viewpoint on Rashy’s season. Without wanting to go too far behind their paywall, the United boss is said to be ‘frustrated’ with a lack of ‘conviction’ and ‘consistency’ from the key United star this season. You’ll have to read their great article for the rest of the information.

Rashford has certainly taken a step back this term, which is pretty unforgivable at this stage in his career.

What bothers fans the most is the lack of desire and effort. Rashford has ambled around the field without a care in the world at times. It’s not a good look, particularly when United are losing and trying to fight their way back into games.

What’s most infuriating is the fact that Rashford always refers back to how he’s a massive red who loves this club like every other supporter, using that as an excuse for some pretty inexcusable performances over the course of the campaign.

What’s damning to me is the fact that Rashford wasn’t even included in a provisional Euro 2024 squad. It’s quite the fall from grace and I genuinely hope he uses it as fuel to come back stronger next season. When he’s fully fit and firing there aren’t many better footballers in the world.
