Ten Hag provides mixed injury update ahead of Man United vs Sheffield United, one player ‘really doubtful’ with fresh problem

Erik ten Hag has spoken to the media about the status of his Man United squad ahead of a vital game against Sheffield United.

The games are coming thick and fast for Manchester United, with the Red Devils only really having one meaningful match left; the FA Cup final.

Before then, the Red Devils have six league games left. Perhaps a good run of results could save Erik ten Hag’s job, though his fate may have already been decided…

Next up, Sheffield United visit Old Trafford in a midweek match. This is a fixture that United should be winning comfortably, regardless of how injury-hit the squad is right now.

Ahead of the match, Ten Hag has been dealt further injury issues, with the gaffer providing a mixed injury update ahead of the game under the floodlights on Wednesday. One player is ‘really doubtful’, though a couple of first-team regulars should be good to go.

Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here:

“Yeah, so we had a problem with Garnacho, that’s why we took him off during the game but I think he will be fine,” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.

Scott McTominay, we have to assess today. That is really doubtful. Marcus Rashford is also doubtful and then there was an issue with Bruno Fernandes, with the hand. But I think he can make it.

“So we have some doubts going into the game tomorrow.”

Let’s start with Scott McTominay, who is looking like missing this game. That leaves United super light in midfield, particularly with Casemiro once again likely playing at centre-half. It could mean a start for Christian Eriksen.

Marcus Rashford is another who could easily miss this game. It’d be a shame because this would be a good opportunity for the winger to find some much-needed confidence.

As for Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, it does feel like both will make it. We’re going to need the pair as right now, our attack would look completely toothless without them. They’re our main source for chance creation as things stand, as we’re getting very little output from Rashy at the moment.

Hopefully, United can put out a strong side tomorrow, putting in a decent performance and winning a game comfortably.
