Former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed that his future may lie away from football management.

The Dutchman was sacked in October last year but he was quickly linked to other jobs such as the Borussia Dortmund head coaching role and also a return to the Netherlands with Feyenoord.

Nonetheless, the former United manager has been insistent that he will not take another job until the summer as he takes his time to rest after an exhausting two years as United manager.

The 55 year old did win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup with the Red Devils but his side’s league form fell off a cliff in his second and third season in charge, as his recruitment was heavily criticised with deals such as the Antony and Casemiro transfers taking the most flak.

In an interview with SEG Stories (via The Daily Mail) he claimed that he may not even return to football management.

When asked about his future he retorted, “there are so many other things I could do. Maybe in football, in a new position as a manager. That’s an option. And maybe something completely different.”

Ten Hag then revealed that he has been in work since October but in a very different field to football or sport.

“I’ve been working with my brothers lately. We have our own company. Or rather: they have their own company. But we also run a company together with our father. That’s also something I love to do I can now give that more attention and it’s also a lot of fun.”

The former United manager comes from one of the wealthiest family in the Netherlands due to his families successful real estate business that was set up by his father in 1967.

“The family also owns several finance firms, with Ten Hag’s brothers Michel and Rico running them.”

The Peoples Person has also relayed that Ten Hag revealed in the interview that he struggled to deal with the younger generation during his time at Old Trafford due to their perceived inability to handle criticism.

He also opened up on how he felt appreciated by the United fans after winning two trophies, especially the FA Cup last May against Manchester City.
