Star ready to fly to Manchester today in order to seal his move to Man United, contract until 2025: report

Raphael Varane could be on his way to Manchester today.

Manchester United Football Club announced that they’d agreed a deal to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid last week. However, all has gone pretty quiet on that front since.

With COVID-19 still causing many issues, the World Cup winner is still yet to make his journey to Manchester. Visa problems also haven’t helped.

Well, we may be getting some movement on that front, finally! According to Fabrizio Romano, the star is set to fly to Manchester today, in order to officially confirm his move to United. Varane will sign a contract until 2025.

It sadly does look as though Varane will have to quarantine, probably for five days, before being allowed to undergo his medical and join in on first-team training.

Sadly, the fact that he has to self-isolate means Varane is very unlikely to feature in United’s final pre-season game against Everton this Saturday.

In turn, that throws his availability for the Leeds United game in doubt. Not only will Varane be short on match fitness for that one, but he’ll barely have had any training sessions with his new teammates. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer usually a fan of the cautious approach, we may well be kept waiting to see Varane in action.

The good news is that we’re still getting a world-class defender, albeit a few games later than we’d have liked. Varane himself seems very excited about this move and I’m delighted that we’ve finally fixed one of the major holes within our team.

Hopefully, we’re not kept waiting too long but being patient definitely feels like the right thing to do here.
