Southampton pair forced to pull out of England duty

A 2nd member of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton squad has, on Monday evening, been forced to turn down the opportunity to link up with his country.

Mount amongst absentees The subject of ongoings in the England international setup has proven headline news across the day to date.

This comes with Gareth Southgate’s senior squad having been subjected to a series of concerning departures, ahead of a key pair of World Cup qualifiers versus Albania and San Marino.

Owing to a range of fitness issues, all of Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and James Ward-Prowse failed to report for duty with the Three Lions on Monday.

Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe, in turn, was afforded a first-ever senior call-up by his country.

Livra follows JWP The concerning situation in the English setup, however, has not been restricted solely to the nation’s senior panel.

A short time ago, it was confirmed that Fleetwood Town defender James Hill, after being honoured with the badge of first-ever Cod Army star to earn an England U21 call-up, had withdrawn due to injury.

And now, Hill has been followed out of Lee Carsley’s squad by Southampton defender Tino Livramento.

As revealed by his club this evening, ex-Chelsea man Livramento, fresh off the back of a stellar opening to the campaign, ‘will now remain with the club over the international break due to injury’.

An explanation was too provided for Saints captain Ward-Prowse returning to base prematurely, with the midfielder having been struck down by a bout of illness.
