Small group of Manchester United fans hold protest against Glazers at Old Trafford – Manchester Evening News

A small group of Manchester United supporters on Saturday protested against the club’s owners at Old Trafford.

With United not in action during the international break, a protest had been planned on social media by fans as they continue to voice their opposition to the Glazer family.

Green and gold images – which have been synonymous with previous protests in reference to the club’s original colours when they were founded as Newton Heath – were shared along with the #GlazerOut hashtag by supporters as the protest was organised for 3pm outside the club’s ground.

Some of the images shared also contained the #OleOut hashtag as some fans called for a change in manager amid the ongoing pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but were met with criticism.

Fans held banners with the message “enough is enough” as they continued their calls for the Glazer family to relinquish control of the club.

According to reports from the protest, the club’s Megastore was forced to close as fans let off flares in front of it, with another of the fan’s signs calling for the owners to “stop destroying our club”.

The protests come after United fans gathered together in May to protest against the Glazers following their involvement in the proposed European Super League.

The plans though fell apart after supporters voiced their displeasure, with the protest at Old Trafford in the summer seeing fans break into the ground and force the postponement of the Premier League game against Liverpool.

United fans have voiced their disapproval of the Glazers for a number of years, with their acquisition of the club back in 2005 leading to a number of protests, as well as the formation of breakaway club FC United of Manchester.

Supporters have continued to rally against the club’s owners since, regularly donning the green and gold in protest of their running of United.
