Sir Jim identifies 31-yo as his dream signing for United, ready to do everything he can to sign him – report

Manchester United are prepared to push for the signing of Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane, as per reports.

United returned to winning ways on Wednesday night with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Ipswich Town. The Red Devils grabbed all three points but their performance, especially going forward, was yet again disappointing, to say the least.

Ruben Amorim’s men only looked dangerous during set-pieces and had to rely on their central defenders and an own goal to rattle Ipswich’s net.

Amorim desperately needs a new reliable goalscorer and it seems Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already identified his top target for the Mancunians.

Manchester United want Harry Kane

According to Fichajes, Ratcliffe has his sights on Kane, as he believes the England captain is capable of leading United’s new project and helping them return to the elite of English and European football.

Kane has been on United’s radar since his breakthrough at Tottenham Hotspur.

Ex-United boss Erik ten Hag was also keen on signing the elite number nine but Spurs ultimately sold him to Bayern in 2023.

United eventually signed Rasmus Hojlund. However, it is claimed that “the option of Kane is gaining strength again” as the Denmark international continues to deliver inconsistent showings.

Kane, meanwhile, remains one of the most prolific number nines in Europe. The 31-year-old has bagged 29 goals and registered 10 assists in all competitions under Vincent Kompany this term.

Bayern are unlikely to be open to listening to offers for their talisman but the Spanish outlet claim Kane’s contract includes a release clause that drops to £54 million in the summer. He is tied to the Bavarians until 2027.

Ratcliffe is believed to be determined to do “everything he can” to make Kane the central figure of his project.

However, Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the ex-Spurs man and could make things tricky for United.
