Manchester United transfer target Senne Lammens has been the subject of a bid from Galatasaray, according to reports in the Belgian media.

The Red Devils have been in discussions with Lammens’ club Royal Antwerp, but newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN) have revealed that Galatasaray have attempted to hijack the deal.

While the Turkish champions have made a late move for the goalkeeper, though, their attempts are likely to be in vain.

HLN claim that Lammens’ “preference is for Manchester United, because they remain a world-class club”, and he has “no problem” with handling the pressure of being the Red Devils’ new number one.

Galatasaray’s intervention is somewhat surprising

The Turkish Super Lig side were reportedly keen on snapping up Manchester City keeper Ederson. Their opening bid fell well short of the Brazilian’s €25m asking price.

Interestingly, PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma‘s transfer to the Etihad hinges on a buyer being found for Ederson, so if Galatasaray have moved on to other targets, it leaves doubts over which team Donnarumma could join.

Plenty of United supporters would like to see their side pursue the Italian international, but it does look like the Manchester club have opted for Lammens instead. City’s interest and the cost of the deal have forced the Red Devils to look at alternatives.

Man United are hoping to wrap up the move soon

Lammens was left out of Antwerp’s matchday squad for the game against KV Mechelen at the weekend, suggesting that talks over a switch to Old Trafford are now at an advanced stage.

Ruben Amorim’s side are expected to pay around €20m (£17m) for the Belgian. His arrival will put the final nail in the coffin for Andre Onana. Altay Bayindir has been favoured ahead of the Cameroon international for the opening two Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Fulham.
