Ruthless Ineos prepared to sack Amorim, three potential replacements already on their list – report

Ruben Amorim’s long-term position at Manchester United is already being reconsidered, as per reports.

Erik ten Hag’s departure was welcomed by the United faithful, as the Dutchman failed to get the best out of players at his disposal. INEOS showed a commendable level of swiftness in bringing in his successor, Amorim to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese tactician, who earned comparisons to Jose Mourinho after leading Sporting CP to two Liga Portugal titles, arrived in Manchester amid much fanfare.

However, that excitement faded quickly, with Amorim failing to steady the ship.

The Red Devils defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday was their 12th Premier League loss of the season. The last time they lost that many times in their first 25 games of a single season was in 1973/74 — the campaign in which they were relegated.

This form has led to many question marks over Amorim’s ability to lead the Mancunian giants and a report from Spain has now suggested that his future at Old Trafford is uncertain.

According to Fichajes, United are already thinking about a “new replacement” following Amorim’s failure to instill a clear identity and churn out positive results on a consistent basis.

INEOS have decided to keep the 40-year-old at the helm until the end of the season unless a “disaster occurs that forces drastic measures to be taken before time.”

However, it is claimed the United board have already begun to “evaluate possible alternatives” for their managerial position ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Spanish outlet suggest that the Premier League outfit want to find a manager who can turn them into serious contenders in Europe.

Accordingly, the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel, and Mauricio Pochettino could be on the list of candidates.

INEOS took little time to part ways with Dan Ashworth after spending months chasing the ex-Newcastle United sporting director. As such, it is not far-fetched to say they may pull the trigger on Amorim sooner than expected should things not improve on the pitch.
