Romano Names £44M Rated Midfielder As “One To Watch” With Wilcox Backing Man United Transfer Raid

BACK David Tully Oct 30th 2025 Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller is high on the list of transfer targets drawn up by Man United Director of Football Jason Wilcox, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. Writing in his column for GiveMeSport, Romano said that the German’s situation is “one to watch” in the New Year. Although a move in January is said to be unlikely, the Red Devils are big fans of Stiller, with Wilcox having kept tabs on his progress in recent years. He is not the only midfielder on the United recruitment chief’s shortlist but he is someone he rates highly. How much could Stiller cost? The 24-year-old actually has a pretty low release clause but Stuttgart can remove it by simply paying €2m (£1.7m). That is something the Bundesliga side are expected to do, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Stiller won’t be sold. Romano claims a fee between €50m (£44m) and €60m (£53m) would likely be needed to prise him away from his current team next summer. Are Man United targeting any other midfielders? Stiller is one of several names said to be under consideration. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher, Chelsea’s Andrey Santos and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson have also been mentioned as potential options. However, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba is believed to be the top target if money is no object. The Red Devils explored a move for the Cameroon international in the last transfer window, but a deal never materialised due to the costs involved.
