Robson responds to Keane’s scathing verdict on Man United

Bryan Robson has shared his views on how Roy Keane approaches Manchester United punditry.

Alarming defeats to rivals Liverpool and Manchester City have put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under intense pressure at Old Trafford and beyond.

Those results have drummed up criticism across the board – as well as leaving their Premier League title hopes in tatters after only 11 games this season.

Keane has, naturally, been outspoken about the current crop and claimed that he has ‘given up’ on United after the Manchester derby humbling.

He also took aim at Harry Maguire for his England goal celebration vs Albania last night.

Rather more circumspect in his verdict, Robson admits that he is hurting about what’s going on at Old Trafford right now – but doesn’t necessarily agree with Keane’s stance as he also picked out Graeme Souness as the best pundit in the business.

During a wide-ranging interview with Mail Online, former United captain Robson said: “It hurts when United aren’t doing well. I want them to be on top, winning. My love for the club as well as my job with United are why I do little for television.

“I listen to Roy Keane venting all his passion and drive, true to his intense nature.

“I see Graeme Souness biting his lip, measuring what he says. That’s one reason why he’s the best pundit of the lot.

“Keano doesn’t see the intensity which took our team up to second behind Manchester City in the Premier League last season and which lit up the start of this season. But then not everyone can be the gaffer.”
