Rio Ferdinand says Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal on Sunday outlined where both club managers are at in their respective rebuild projects. Arteta has been at the Emirates for more than three years and has led his team to the top of the Premier League as the season reaches its midway point. After his summer appointment, Ten Hag is on course to guide United to a top four finish in his debut term, and gave the table-toppers a good battle on their own turf. The hosts ultimately edged the contest and Ferdinand said that it showed how both bosses are at different stages in their journey, suggesting that Ten Hag still needs time to get to the level Arteta is currently operating at. They saw the long picture what it looked like. “I think the big difference between the two teams… one team looked like they had a manager who had been there for the time that he had in Arteta and one looked like he was at the beginning of his journey [Ten Hag] by the end of this game. “You have to see somewhere where you say you are going to stick by that. So with Arteta they have seen a work-ethic, they have seen a plan and a pathway with him. That is why they stuck with him.” Find the Footballs on the MEN website and you could win £1,000.
