More infoManchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has claimed that two players at the club are making him frustrated following the Red Devils’ 1-0 win away to Wolves on Saturday. Marcus Rashford, who was left on the bench due to a disciplinary issue as he overslept for a team meeting, came on at half-time to score the only goal of the game at Molineux.Erik ten Hag’s side struggled in the first half without their talisman Rashford, however, and struggled to break down their opposition despite Wolves being sat in the bottom three. Alejandro Garnacho started in Rashford’s place alongside Anthony Martial and Antony as part of their front three, but Ferdinand has admitted he is worried over the lack of squad depth in forward areas.Ferdinand was discussing the lack of goals among their forwards with fellow BT Sport pundit Paul Scholes, when he gave an assessment of the current crop of attackers. “That’s why it’s so frustrating as well,” Ferdinand admitted.“[Jadon] Sancho, big money player, not here, you want someone hitting the ground running, goals, assists and being hard to play against and being a problem for the manager but that’s not there at the moment. Rio Ferdinand is hoping to see more from two Manchester United players. (Image: BT Sport)“You need [Anthony] Elanga to come in and perform as well but the depth isn’t what you see at other clubs but there’s a robustness that I haven’t seen for a few years, grinding results. These are the games that Man United would’ve dropped points in years gone by but they’ve turned them into three points and that’s a positive.”Elanga came off the bench against Wolves, but only in the third minute of stoppage time for Antony despite the Brazilian struggling to get the better of the hosts’ defence. Sancho was not in the travelling squad in Wolverhampton, as he continues his individual training regime to get back to match fitness. The Swede also only received four minutes off the bench in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.DON’T MISSChelsea’s scary XI next season with Fernandez, Nkunku and two moreDonetsk make Mudryk announcement – but not the one Arsenal fans wantMan Utd star Jadon Sancho is set for a lifeline after recent twist Anthony Elanga in action for Manchester United. Yes of course there is coming a time. The time is not now, but he is making good progress, and we will see when he is ready to return into the squad.”United have been planning to bring in another forward in the January transfer window, and Cody Gakpo was a name mooted with a potential move to Old Trafford before Liverpool bounced and signed the World Cup star for a fee that could rise to £50million.
