Prosperous nations around the world are expecting billions more doses of Covid vaccine – 19 than they need. In this way, poorer nations are left in the lurch and struggling to catch up, while the world tries to quell the epidemic.
This is stated in a new report published by the anti-poverty organization. Reuters reports.
The report specifically looked at who the vaccine doses of the five major vaccine manufacturers, Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and Novavax, are intended for. It turned out that the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Japan had already secured more than three billion vaccine doses.
The countries only need more than two billion doses to be able to give all its citizens two doses of vaccine. As a result, they have secured a billion more doses than they actually need.
