Mason Greenwood could yet make a return to Man United training, if a transfer away is not sealed by the end of June.

Manchester United will be looking to raise some funds this summer, in order to bolster the budget for the manager to re-invest back in the squad. All reports indicate that money is tight due to FFP constraints, so some extra money could come in handy.

Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will leave. Others should follow, assuming buyers can be found. One player who I felt was a dead-cert to receive sufficient transfer interest is Mason Greenwood.

However, The Athletic believe that a return to Man United training for the attacker ‘cannot be ruled out’.

Yes, the preference remains to sell Greenwood permanently, though if a deal isn’t agreed by June 30th, the club may have no choice. It’s uncertain whether the forward would join in with first-team training, the club cannot, contractually, refuse his return to the facilities.

United will work through their options in the coming weeks, though another loan move away for Greenwood, after his success at Gefafe, is also a possible option.

I fully expect plenty of interest in Greenwood. He’s had a good season by all accounts, while some big European names have been linked with a potential move to bring in the Englishman.

His situation could mean a reduced transfer fee as the whole world knows United would prefer to move away from Greenwood.

In our opinion, the Reds should receive whatever fee they can for the Englishman and view it as a complete bonus. Let’s be honest, there’s too much water under the bridge here and it just makes sense to close this chapter for the sake of all involved – and move on.
