Manchester United will have one massive decision to make this summer around the club’s managerial position going forward.

This season, Manchester United were expected to build upon last year’s Carabao Cup triumph and Champions League qualification.

But 2023/24 has seemed more like a first season for Erik ten Hag as his team has regressed in style and results – something multiple pundits have noticed.

This has led new footballing bosses Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his trusted experts who are now making the calls to consider their options in a managerial sense ahead of next season.

Ineos are known to have met with former United interim boss Ralf Rangnick to discuss what he felt needed to happen at the club, now it’s emerged the Austrian has recommended a Ten Hag replacement.

Ralf Rangnick advises Manchester United to move for Julian Nagelsmann

According to a report from I Sport, United have been advised to consider making a move for one impressive manager.

“Julian Nagelsmann, after a recommendation from Ralf Rangnick, is another reportedly being considered.”

MORE UNITED STORIES

Nagelsmann is the current Germany manager and therefore would be unlikely to move until after this summer’s European Championship campaign.

The 36-year-old has formerly managed Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, winning the Bundesliga with the former, prior to being replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Often considered an elite tactical mind, and one of Europe’s best young managers, he is yet to reach his managerial prime and could be an excellent option for Sir Jim to build a project with.

Julian Nagelsmann could be absolutely perfect

In the same report, the other options mentioned include the likes of Graeme Potter and Roberto De Zerbi. Both of these are less appealing than the German.

Nagelsmann has made his name quickly in European football despite being so young in a managerial sense through his excellent football played at RB Leipzig.

He is tactically astute and would undoubtedly play the type of football that Sir Jim wants to see at Old Trafford.

Also known to use the youth, as RB Leipzig is built on that thinking, he also ticks that box for United.

If Ten Hag is to be replaced, Nagelsmann is the guy who should be Sir Jim, Omar Berrada and Sir Dave Brailsford‘s top pick.
