The Manchester United academy was at its sparkling best last season, and now a potential world-class talent is being targeted.

The U18 side from the history-making Manchester United academy won the treble this past campaign, but not to be satisfied the club are already searching for the next big thing to add to the ranks.

This is something Ineos seem keen to do at Old Trafford with the club’s rich tradition of using the academy likely to be upheld given the sheer amount of quality currently there.

The academy boasts Ethan Wheatley, Harry Amass, Shea Lacey, Amir Ibragimov and countless other potentially world-class prospects.

But now it’s been reported that another extremely exciting talent could be on United’s list to recruit this summer after he enjoyed an impressive U17 European Championship this year.

Now, according to a report by the Express, the Red Devils have their eyes locked on a new wonderkid who’d be a great signing this summer.

Oghenetejiri Adejenughure is the name, with the 17-year-old striker currently playing at a U18 level for RB Leipzig, although he’s likely now too good to be at that level – next season he could play for FC Liefering in Austria’s second division.

United will face competition from both AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund if they intend to make a move to sign Adejenughure this summer.

Who is United target Oghenetejiri Adejenughure?

17-year-old Austrian talent is making waves across Europe right now as the high interest levels suggest and it’s not surprising to see this be the case when considering how impressive his numbers are.

During the 2023/24 season, he made 20 appearances for Salzburg U18 in the OFV Jugendliga and scored 16 goals in that time. A tally which saw him bag a goal every 83 minutes of action.

He’s among Austria’s most exciting players and has 12 caps at U17 level while scoring eight times. This includes his four goals in four games at the U17 Euros.

He’s six foot tall and backs up his physical qualities with excellent technical ability and strong finishing as seen below in a clip from him at U16 level for Austria.

Clearly a potential world-class talent, and someone we’d like to see United complete a deal for with the intention of him being a future star.
