Man Utd are one of several clubs competing to secure the services of Fulham centre-back Samuel Amissah, according to The Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath. The reliable journalist claims that the Red Devils, Arsenal and Chelsea are involved in a “battle” for the teenager, whose contract at Craven Cottage expires this summer. Amissah also has several suitors abroad, including the likes of Juventus, Marseille and Ajax, with Fulham powerless to stop him from leaving when his current deal ends in June. The Cottagers will receive compensation for the defender due to his age, but the player will have the final decision on who he joins. What do fans need to know about Amissah? The 18-year-old came through Brentford’s youth system, but after the academy was closed down, he made the switch to Fulham in the summer of 2024. Amissah has not made his senior debut yet, although he has made the bench on seven different occasions this season. He was last named in the matchday squad for the 1-0 defeat to Leeds in mid-January. The youngster is a centre-half by trade, but he can also be deployed on the right or left-hand side of defence, or even as a holding midfielder. Man Utd are now more focused on youth recruitment Since INEOS took over control of the club’s footballing operations, the recruitment team have placed greater emphasis on signing young players. They have also secured the signature of young Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco, who is expected to arrive from Fortaleza CEIF later this year. The interest in Amissah is just the latest example of United focusing more closely on the youth market. Want more news on Man Utd?
