Jamie Redknapp insists it is ‘HEARTBREAKING’ to see Marcus Rashford struggling at Man United… as Dion Dublin claims the forward has the potential to be one of the best players in the world on his dayJamie Redknapp said its hard to watch Marcus Rashford not enjoying his football26-year-old produced a tepid performance in Man United’s draw with BrentfordWhy Roberto De Zerbi should be in the running to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool – Listen to the It’s All Kicking Off podcast By Adrian Bishop Published: 23:52 GMT, 30 March 2024 | Updated: 00:23 GMT, 31 March 2024 Jamie Redknapp insisted Marcus Rashford’s current form at Manchester United is heartbreaking to watch. After enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career to date last season, the 26-year-old has struggled to reach the same levels this term.Rashford’s inconsistencies on the pitch have been further blighted by issues away from football, including an incident involving a missed training session stemming from a night drinking in Belfast in the build up to an FA Cup clash in January. Despite netting in his previous two Premier League appearances, Rashford produced a listless display in United’s draw with Brentford on Saturday, registering just a single shot on goal before being replaced by Mason Mount. At half-time in that game Redknapp criticised Rashford for lacking effort, and speaking following the result the pundit questioned why it appears he is not reaching his potential. Dion Dublin and Jamie Redknapp said it is hard to watch Marcus Rashford not enjoying his football at Man United The forward struggled to make an impact in Manchester United’s draw with Brentford ‘Marcus Rashford is a player with so much talent,’ Redknapp said.’God given talent, he’s got everything. He’s got an incredible physique, he can run, he can dribble, he can shoot, he got 30 goals last year. ‘I look at a player right now. I think he’s an eight goals, seven in the Premier League, and one in the in the FA Cup. ‘He’s just looks like he’s not enjoying his football. And for me, it’s quite heartbreaking because he’s got so much talent, I just want to see more.’ Dion Dublin agreed with Redknapp’s assessment of Rashford’s recent showings on the pitch and added that he hopes the England international can return to his best.’I want to see him smile. You know, we know Marcus Rashford is possibly the best player they have in regards to natural talent.’ He said.’And he can do things when he wants to do things. I just want Marcus Rashford to be enjoying his football again. ‘I don’t know what’s going on away from football with Marcus. But when I see him on the pitch, I don’t see him smile enough. And I want to see him enjoying his football again. ‘Because if I see that, then he’ll be tearing it up. And he’ll be scoring goals and it’ll be the best on the left hand side in the world which he can be.’In a game where they struggled to create many real chances of note, it would be Rashford’s replacement who proved to be the real difference maker at the Gtech Community Stadium. Rashford ultimately made way for Mason Mount in the closing stages at the Gtech Community Stadium Mount celebrated his return from injury by netting his first United goal in the 1-1 drawAfter spending several months on the sidelines dealing with a calf injury, summer signing Mason Mount made his Premier League return off the bench and had an immediate impact, netting against the run of play to give United the lead and open his account for the club.United’s jubilation would prove to be short-lived however, as Brentford produced an immediate response as Kristoffer Ajer finished off a great move from Ivan Toney to equalise.Failure to hang on to the three points leaves Erik ten Hag’s side eight points behind Tottenham and nine behind Aston Villa in the race for Champions League football.
