Rashford’s move to FC Barcelona hinges on Jose Mourinho’s ability to sign this struggling star – report

Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford’s potential move to FC Barcelona could rest on the future plans of unwanted star Ansu Fati.

Having fallen down the pecking order under new Man United manager Ruben Amorim, Rashford has been linked with a move away from the club, with a loan to Barcelona continuously being punted.

Still, even as Rashford appears to be edging ever closer to the exit door, his future appears more clouded than ever, with even Amorim himself admitting that he is unsure of whether the English winger will leave the club before the transfer window slams shut.

The Daily Mail explained, however, that there is a possibility that Rashford may only move to Barcelona if the Catalan club can offload one of their own.

“Barcelona are eager for Ansu Fati to leave the club. Previously regarded as one of the standout youngsters in world football, Fati has endured much misfortune with injuries in recent years,” the report noted.

“Fati isn’t a major part of Hansi Flick’s plans, with the Barcelona boss having informed him of the situation. Although Fati’s contract runs until the summer of 2027, it is widely expected that he will leave Barcelona before then.”

But while Barcelona seek to offload Fati before attempting to move in on Rashford, a former United alumnus could come to the rescue to help move things along.

Former United manager Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Fati, AS reported.

The report claimed that he is looking to the Barcelona youngster as a replacement for Allan Saint-Maximin, who has proven disappointing during his loan from Al-Ahli.

Should Saint-Maximim leave, Fenerbache will reportedly look to sign Fati as soon as possible.

While a move to a prestigious club such as Barcelona may seem like a logical choice for the struggling Rashford, United may need to continue entertaining other offers, given the complications that could scupper the potential deal.

With Borussia Dortmund and Juventus believed to still be options, United would do well to offload the out-of-favour winger as soon as possible.
