‘Proud’ Jadon Sancho sends fans message after first Manchester United goal

Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho has explained how proud he felt upon scoring his first goal for the Red Devils.

Man United signed Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a reported £72.3million fee in the summer but the winger had struggled to make a quick impact at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old had not scored or assisted before the Villarreal game despite having 15 appearances to his name.

The Red Devils locked horns against Villarreal on Tuesday night in the Champions League, of which Jadon Sancho started for the Reds.

It rather ended remarkably well for the England international after he scored United’s second goal against the La Liga side to ensure United’s safety to the round of 16, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the first goal.

Though Sancho was proud to get his first goal for United, he did urge his teammates to build from the victory against Villarreal.

Jadon Sancho tweeted: “Proud to score my first goal for @ManUtd in the best competition in world football @ChampionsLeague!

Jadon Sancho was proud to get his first Manchester United goal and urged his teammates to build from the win “Great team effort from the boys tonight, we build from this.”

Michael Carrick, who acted as Manchester United interim manager, was full of praise for the former Borussia Dortmund winger.

“So pleased for Sancho,” Carrick told MUTV. “He worked his socks off.

“He gave everything, At times it wasn’t always with the ball. He showed both sides of his game tonight and to get his goal capped it off.”

Because Atalanta played a 3-3 draw against Young Boys in Switzerland, Manchester United will finish as the winners of Group F, with a game to spare.
