Former Manchester United Premier League winner Ashley Young is closing in on a return to a former club.
Incredible career
Young started his career with Watford before moving to Aston Villa in 2007.
The England international then moved to United in 2011 and won a Premier League trophy in his second year at the club.
He spent nine years at Old Trafford, playing 261 games and scoring 19 goals in all competitions.
The 40-year-old then joined Inter Milan in 2019 before returning to England to represent his former side Villa and then Everton.
In spite of his age, he played an incredible 36 games last season for the Toffees and even scored a goal.
His free-kick against Wolverhampton Wanderers made him the fourth-oldest goalscorer in Premier League history.
Another reunion with former club
The full back left Everton as a free agent in the summer and is reportedly on the verge of returning to another of his former clubs.
TalkSPORT report that “Watford are exploring a deal to re-sign ex-England and Manchester United star Ashley Young.”
Young is said to be keen to finish career where it all started back as a 10-year-old, when he joined Watford’s academy.
It has been stated that “Hornets head coach Paulo Pezzolano will make the final call but there are no concerns about Young’s age or fitness.”
Commenting on his future after leaving Everton Young stated, “I’m definitely going to carry on next season. Whichever way that is. I’m not getting any younger. I’m going to be 40 in July.”
He added, “I feel as fit as when I was in my 20s. I’m definitely going to continue. The stats are there.”
