David de Gea – Made some big saves to keep United in the game at times. Tried to bark his orders from in net. 7/10
Diogo Dalot – Not his finest outing in an attacking sense, though did just about enough defensively. 5/10
Victor Lindelof – Did just about enough. Though there’s a significant drop-off in quality from the regular two centre-halves, mind. 5/10
Harry Maguire – It felt like the whole team played worse with him on the pitch at times. He doesn’t calm the nerves, that’s for sure. 4/10
Tyrell Malacia – Not his finest evening. Sloppy in possession. Struggled defensively at times. 4/10
Scott McTominay – Not progressive enough with the ball at feet. Sloppy at times. Booked. Subbed at half-time. 4/10
Marcel Sabitzer – You can see the quality he has with the ball at feet. Always tried to make things happen. Had a decent early effort saved. 6/10
Bruno Fernandes – Led the press and was at the heart of everything good about United’s play.
Alejandro Garnacho – Drifted in and out of the game. Did look threatening in some attacks. He was too careless at times, but my, what a finish that was for the goal that gave United the lead. 7/10
Antony – Couldn’t really get into the game as the United attacks were largely down the other flank. 5/10
Wout Weghorst – Worked tirelessly as per usual. His hold-up play was sublime. Deserved a goal. Caused the equaliser with his presence. The third goal was all his own work. 7/10
Subs:
Casemiro – Brought some solidity and calmness to the midfield. Thought he’d scored with a header but it was disallowed.
Marcus Rashford – Stretched the West Ham defence with his pace. Almost scored late on.
Lisandro Martinez – His aggressive, front-footed style of defending helped turn the tide in United’s favour.
Fred – Came on and helped book United’s place in the next round.
