Here are our player ratings as Man United beat Newport County 4-2 in the FA Cup.
Altay Bayindir – His distribution was average. Wasn’t really forced into any difficult saves. Couldn’t do anything about either goal. 5/10
Diogo Dalot – Steady in both departments. Not tested defensively but probably not good enough with the ball at feet. 4/10
Raphael Varane – There’s a common theme occurring here. Did nothing out of the ordinary but was decent enough. 4/10
Lisandro Martinez – Nice to see him out there. United’s best defender by a mile when fit. 4/10
Luke Shaw – Tried to get forward though that final ball or cross was lacking. He wasn’t alone in that regard. 4/10
Casemiro – Another who returned after a lengthy injury absence. Looked a little rusty against lower league opposition. Was to be expected. 4/10
Kobbie Mainoo – Probably United’s best performer. Doubled the lead with a lovely strike. Was good both on and off the ball. 7/10
Bruno Fernandes – Kicked things off with a sumptuous goal, though his final ball and quality when in possession was questionable at times. Did work hard. 5/10
Antony – Scored the third for United, though it was a really atrocious all-round performance from the Brazilian. Was just so bad in possession. 3/10
Alejandro Garnacho – Always worked hard and tried to threaten, but the quality just wasn’t there today. 4/10
Rasmus Hojlund – Given no decent service at all. Led the line well enough and scored in added time. 5/10
Scott McTominay – Played a good ball for the eventual fourth.
Willy Kambwala – Did his job well.
Harry Maguire – Helped see the game out.
Omari Forson – Nice to see him out there.
Jonny Evans – Not enough time to mark.
