PL arch-rivals at the “front of the queue” for “sensational” forward who blew Amorim away with his display vs United – report

Manchester United have struggled massively in front of goal this season, netting only 28 times in 23 games, with only five teams scoring fewer than them so far this term.

Rasmus Hojlund has regressed in his sophomore campaign to such an extent that the club are seriously considering moving him on in the summer with Ruben Amorim reportedly unimpressed with the United No 9.

Joshua Zirkzee has also failed to deliver in front of goal while Marcus Rashford seems destined for an exit, either this month or next summer.

Incidentally, the Red Devils’ goal tally is even lesser than Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are struggling in the relegation zone and Ruben Amorim’s side were linked with a move for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.

Cunha race heating up

The Brazilian was on fire when the two sides last met, scoring one and assisting another as he proved his quality while playing as a No 10, something the Portuguese head coach witnessed first-hand.

United’s chances of acquiring his signature this January were done a massive favour when news emerged of a potential fall-out with Wolves boss Vitor Pereira

Cunha is yet to sign a new deal with the West Midlands outfit and with interest growing in his services, a potential exit could be on the cards if Givemesport are to be believed.

The only problem? Arsenal have been named as his most likely destination with the Gunners leading the race with the former Atletico Madrid star also open to a move to the Emirates as he seeks to be a part of the league title-chasing pack.

“Arsenal have been handed a significant boost in the final days of the winter transfer window as Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha is keen to complete a move to the Emirates Stadium despite gaining extensive interest from elsewhere, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Gunners in pole position

“Although GMS sources have been informed that Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also showing interest, Arsenal appear to be at the front of the queue after it has come to light that Cunha’s preference is to get involved in a title bid at the Emirates Stadium.”

Wolves do not want to sell their “sensational” talisman in this window as they seek to maintain their Premier League status but a bid in the region of £60 million could prove too hard to turn down.

With Rashford unlikely to leave permanently and Alejandro Garnacho’s chances of moving on looking slim, United simply do not have the funds required to push for a move, especially after agreeing a deal for Patrick Dorgu.

Hopefully, Amorim can get a tune out of the forwards at his disposal in the second half of the campaign before trying for his former Sporting Lisbon protege Viktor Gyokeres in the summer.
