Manchester United were forced into numerous alterations for their last Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur due to multiple injury and health issues.
Amad suffered a season-ending ankle injury while Kobbie Mainoo will also be sidelined for a few weeks. Additionally, Ruben Amorim was also without midfielders Toby Collyer, Manuel Ugarte, and Christian Eriksen.
When asked about the Dane’s absence, Amorim had said, “Chris has the heart situation and we have to be really careful with that – it’s nothing about the heart! I’m just saying the heart rate has to be controlled because he has a fever.”
Plenty were concerned by Amorim’s comments and as a result, the Denmark international was forced to clarify his coach’s comments on his Instagram handle.
Eriksen clarifies
Eriksen explained that he had picked up a virus, like many others do during this time of the year, and he will return soon to training.
“Looking ahead. I just wanted to thank everyone for the get well messages I’ve been receiving after missing the Spurs game,” he wrote on his social media.

“I picked up a virus like many people do at this time of year. Nothing serious and soon ready to get back to training.”
This suggests the 33-year-old will be available for Saturday’s clash with Everton at Goodison Park. Given Casemiro’s form, Amorim will be delighted to have the former Spurs star back.
He will be an option from the bench should Ugarte return as he is not the best fit for Amorim’s system, which explains his lack of starts under the ex-Sporting CP boss.
Amorim had already suggested that he felt the Danish midfielder would be back in time for the next game along with centre-back Leny Yoro.
Eriksen back will be a boost
“It’s hard to know. Let’s wait a few more days. I think Leny [Yoro) and Chris [Eriksen] were sick, so they will recover.”
United are desperately short of numbers all over the squad with the head coach forced to pick eight academy graduates for last Sunday’s game.
Whether Collyer and Ugarte also return remains to be seen. Mainoo will definitely miss the game to add to Amad, Lisandro Martinez’s long-term injuries.
Due to the lack of midfielders at the Portuguese tactician’s disposal, Sekou Kone and Jack Fletcher were part of the matchday squad in North London even though it was only Chido Obi who was handed a debut.
