Young attacker, Gabriele Biancheri, was spotted in Man United first-team training for the first time this weekend.

Manchester United squeezed their way into the FA Cup quarter-final in midweek, keeping their season alive, at least for the time being. This weekend, though, is another crucial game. The Manchester derby away at The Etihad stadium…

Lose here and we’re in a real uphill battle for a place inside the Premier League’s top four. Win and the dream is well and truly alive.

However, the squad isn’t in great shape ahead of the match. No doubt Erik ten Hag will offer us all an update during his pre-match presser this afternoon, but the likes of Rasmus Hojlund, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire will all be missing.

As a result, the first-team training squad has a youthful look to it at the moment. Included for the first time was talented United forward, Gabriele Biancheri.

The 17-year-old Welsh attacker was given the opportunity to work out with the senior squad on the eve of one of the biggest games on the calendar. No doubt he was loving life, alongside Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and many others.

For Biancheri, this is the first step. It’s no doubt a massive confidence-booster, as he has been recognised by Ten Hag as someone who has the talent to be good enough to mix it with some of the best players in the business.

Biancheri has excelled at youth level since making the move to United and it’s great that those performances have been rewarded with this opportunity. Yes, it may have only arisen due to the injury issues, but nonetheless, it’s a chance to leave an impression.

It’s highly unlikely we’ll see Biancheri in the squad this weekend, but I guess you just never know. If one or two more attacking players pick up knocks, then why not? It’s how the aforementioned Rashford was given his big break almost a decade ago now.

Either way, it’s great to see Biancheri out there.

Congrats and keep working, Gabriele!
