(Picture) “Enough is enough”: Furious United icon rips into Amorim over his shocking treatment of star

Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has launched a scathing attack on Ruben Amorim over his handling of Kobbie Mainoo so far this season. Mainoo struggling Since Ruben Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November 2024, Kobbie Mainoo has struggled to hold down a regular spot. This term, the midfielder appears to have fallen even further out of the head coach’s plans. Amorim has demonstrated a clear preference for a midfield pivot of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro. When changes are required, he has often looked to the uninspiring Manuel Ugarte ahead of Mainoo. Mainoo has yet to start a Premier League game this season. His only start came in the humiliating EFL Cup defeat to Grimsby Town in August. Mainoo has managed just 171 minutes of top-flight action and was forced to watch on from the bench as his teammates surrendered a lead against West Ham on Thursday. Unsurprisingly, the England international is believed to be frustrated with his situation and is open to a January loan exit. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Mainoo has been left disgruntled by how Amorim has treated him. As the situation rumbles on, there are plenty of suitors eyeing the Carrington academy graduate, so finding a club is likely to be very easy. On Friday, Amorim passionately defended his use of Mainoo, insisting that he will only field players he feels are best suited to win games. This sparked a fierce reaction from Scholes, who took to social media to call out the Portuguese coach. Scholes slams Amorim Scholes wrote in a now-deleted post, “Bulls***!” “The kid is being ruined, not being played in a team that can’t control a game of football.” “Hate seeing home grown players leave but it’s probably best for him now, enough is enough.” United are next in action on Monday evening when they go away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
