Paul Pogba is set to start the season at Manchester United despite rumours linking him with a switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG have made the France star their final target as Mauricio Pochettino’s summer rebuild nears completion, but according to The Telegraph, he will remain a Red Devil when the season commences next weekend.
Should United keep Pogba or cash in on the Frenchman? Pogba, who is believed to be keen to leave United, has been identified as the last piece of the jigsaw and the man who can spearhead PSG to glory in Europe.
The World Cup winner won’t come cheap, though, as United want to keep him and are trying to tie him down to a new deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of the next campaign.
Pogba expressed his desire for a ‘new challenge’ back in 2019 but has enjoyed his football more under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the last two seasons.
The 28-year-old will also be comforted by United’s business in the market this summer, with his France teammate Raphael Varane set to join from Real Madrid and highly-rated youngster Jadon Sancho signing from Borussia Dortmund.
There’s a lot of scrutiny on Pogba, who’s been heavily linked with a Man United exit for the best part of two years Nevertheless, he is believed to be keen on a move to his homeland, where he would link up with the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at the Parc des Princes.
Pogba has blown hot and cold with United fans ever since his £89m return to the club in 2019, hitting 38 goals in 199 appearances at Old Trafford.
United get their campaign off with a clash against Leeds at home on August 14.
