Paul Pogba remains open to signing a contract extension with Manchester United, according to reports.
Speculation over the World Cup winner and his Old Trafford future reached fever pitch during the summer when a new £50million offer was rejected by the player and ‘super agent’ Mino Raiola.
At the time, it was understood that Pogba – and Raiola – made the decision in order to keep their options open with the view to a possible free transfer next summer. That came amid long-standing interest from PSG, Real Madrid and former club Juventus.
Raiola, meanwhile, claimed there had been ‘no update’ when he last spoke with the media.
According to a report in The Daily Mail, though, there has been no definitive stance taken by key figures upstairs at United or by the midfielder himself.
The report argues that Pogba ‘never wanted to become a free agent’, and even wanted to pen fresh terms with the Premier League giants in 2019.
Pogba has come in for criticism amid recent performances in the engine room and was sent off during the recent heavy and humiliating 5-0 defeat to bitter rivals Liverpool two weeks ago.
He missed the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon as a result of his three-game suspension.
Elsewhere, fellow academy graduate Jesse Lingard is ready to leave Old Trafford – as per a report from Eurosport.
Having been cast aside last season, the England forward recaptured his best form on loan at West Ham.
Following that January switch, Lingard scored nine goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances to help the Hammers qualify for the Europa League.
It was a return that put him back in the international fold, though Lingard did miss out on a place at Euro 2020.

Restricted to 154 minutes this campaign, the 28-year-old was omitted from the latest Three Lions squad, too – and Eurosport claim that he is now ‘seriously considering’ his Old Trafford future and would favour a return to West Ham in that event.
Similarly to Pogba, his teammate, Lingard is now into the final few months of his contract.
