Opinion: Man Utd should shock everyone and make ‘zero chance’ to sign £21m star first acquisition of Ratcliffe-led-era

It’s set to be a busy summer for Manchester United in the transfer market, in regard to incomings and outgoings.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos mob have arrived at Old Trafford, and they’re set to take the reigns heading into a summer of transfer mania at Manchester United.

The Red Devils need several different players, in a number of different positions. This season, the first-team squad depth was simply not good enough, and United were punished with a seriously unfavourable position in the league.

So who could be the first signing of the summer? Who will Ratcliffe prioritise first? Well, we think it should be someone that many thought didn’t stand a chance to have a future at the club just weeks prior.

Who could be Manchester United’s first signing of the summer?

There are a number of players already heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford ahead of the summer transfer window.

Two Premier League candidates have emerged as two favourites, with Michael Olise of Crystal Palace and Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton probably spoken about the most.

Other than that, it is really up in the air. However, we think one man should be the first after his end of the season – Sofyan Amrabat.

He arrived on loan from Fiorentina, with a £21m option to buy at the end of the season, which for the most part of the 23/24 campaign nowhere near looked like happening.

The Moroccan looked down and out at Manchester United, with Dean Jones at GIVEMESPORT dubbing the possibility of United signing him permanently ‘zero chance’ in January,

However, after a spirited final few games in red, which in many saw Amrabat emerge as one of the best players on the pitch, has he convinced the Red Devils to pull the trigger?

Does Sofyan Amrabat have more to give at Manchester United?

In our opinion, yes. Amrabat does have more to give in a red shirt, he just has to be utilised correctly. The final few games, in particular the FA Cup Final, have shown Amrabat’s qualities in breaking up play, which is vital for big games clashes, and has been missed this season.

With Casemiro looking set to depart, we think United should pay the fee as previously intended for the 27-year-old. The Moroccan will not cost a lot in the grand scheme of things and has stated himself he wants to stay.

There have been recent reports that Manchester United have not made a U-turn and will still let him leave, but surely it’s being thought about?

We can’t help but think that if Amrabat had been deployed in his correct position all year, the consensus around him would be very different.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks, but remarkably, we’d now like him to stick around.
