JJ Watt has been released by the Houston Texans in the NFL. Watt has been named the league’s best defender three times, so it could be expected that many teams will be after this 31 year old player.
Watt spent a total of ten years with the Texans and will always be in the discussion about the best players in the history of the club. Now Watt has to choose what he takes over, but many teams are after his signature.
The Athletic went over which team are most likely to be considered by Watt for the coming season.
1. Green Bay Packers
Watt grew up near Green Bay and attended the University of Wisconsin at the time. Watt could be the last puzzle the Packers need to finally land the Lombardi Cup. They went all the way to the semifinals this year but lost to Tom Brady and his teammates in Tampa Bay.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
JJ and his younger brother TJ have dreamed of playing together for a long time. Now finally there is a real possibility that it can happen.
3. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo need stronger defense but the Kansas City Chiefs have repeatedly treated them badly this past season. A player like JJ could solve those problems in many ways.
4. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens are diligent in adding players who have expired. They want to play good defense and a player like Watt could help the team go even further.
Apart from these four teams, another six are also mentioned. There are the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders.
