Darts sensation Luke Littler has revealed the joy of having the chance to speak to Sir Alex Ferguson on a recent trip to Old Trafford.
The 18 year old has captured the imagination of darts fans across the world with his sensational achievements.
He sprung to fame in 2024 when he reached the final of the World Championship and went one better this year by winning the entire competition.
Littler is a public Manchester United fan and was invited to parade his trophy in front of the Old Trafford crowd at half-time during the match with Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Sun carry comments by the darts sensation where he claimed the experience of showing off the Sid Waddell Trophy at the storied stadium was “probably one of the best moments of my life and will live with me for ever.”
The 18 year old was supposed to show the trophy before kick off but the passing of Denis Law days before the match resulted in a change of plan.
The world number two then spoke of the opportunity he had to pick the brains of legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson during the game.
“I sat behind Sir Alex Ferguson and was chatting to him for a bit, which was good. It’s one of the best things I have ever done.”
The Glaswegian was no stranger to advising world-class youngsters during his time as a manager, so Littler will have surely gained much from the experience and taken on some sage advice.
The United side are suffering one of their worst ever season as they sit 13th in the Premier League table and have already lost 11 times.
Littler wisely advised the young squad to follow his lead and “just don’t listen to social media — that’s one of the big things.”
“In the football world, it’s totally different. You have to keep your head down. When it’s a darts game, you are on your own. When it’s United, you have a whole team around you, so must stick together.”
