“One of the best right now in the world”: United star names the incredible inspiration behind his goal celebration

Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has credited Real Madrid’s Arda Guler as the inspiration behind his fantastic goal celebration.

Amad has been a standout performer in what is proving to be an extremely difficult 2024/25 season for United.

At the moment, the Red Devils are in 13th position in the Premier League table, having gained just 22 points from a possible 51.

Ruben Amorim’s side were also recently knocked out of the Carabao Cup following a dramatic 4-3 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

Amad has really taken his chances under new boss Ruben Amorim and is now firmly one of the first names on the team sheet.

So far this term, the Ivorian has notched an impressive five goals and seven assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Ahead of United’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers later today, the 22-year-old spoke to club media and revealed Gurler as the person who has motivated his celebration.

The two stars usually celebrate by putting their right hand on the heart while holding up the index finger of the left hand.

Amad said, “Yeah, this celebration. I saw this first with Arda Guler, who plays for Real Madrid. I tried to do the same celebration because I like [it].”

“This was the game against PAOK in the Europa League where I scored two goals, we won in Europe after one year [of not getting a victory], so it meant a lot for me and the team.”

“I like to score, and this happening in the Europa League, I was just happy. I want to make history for this club.”

When asked whether he admires Guler, Amad remarked, “Yeah, I like him. He’s a good guy, a good young player. A top player who plays for Real Madrid, one of the best right now in the world.”

“So, I saw his celebration, so I tried to copy him because I like his celebration. Maybe the next goal, I don’t do the same or maybe I do my celebration. But, right now, I’m doing this!”

Wolves vs. United kicks off at 17:30 GMT.
