Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reviews Manchester City defeat

Manchester United fans around the globe will be keeping their fingers crossed over the international break.

After Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw both pulled out of the England squad due to fitness issues, Paul Pogba suffered an injury in France training and has been ruled out for around two months.

Any more layoffs would be a big blow for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was also without the stricken Raphael Varane before the internationals.

The Norwegian is already under major pressure at the moment and faces a significant week of challenging fixtures when domestic action returns.

Here are your latest United headlines, as the international fixtures kick into gear.

How will United fare when they return from the international break? Let us know in the comments below.

Solskjaer is under pressure after a tough run of results. Allardyce offers Solskjaer advice Former England manager Sam Allardyce has said Solskjaer should consider tweaking his backroom staff in an attempt to get more from the United squad.

It’s been noted that the United boss lacks experienced figures on his coaching staff aside from Sir Alex Ferguson’s former assistant Mike Phelan.

Allardyce said it is important for a manager to have these types of coaches to call upon, particularly when the team is struggling as United are at the moment.

“You just have to look at his hair,” said the ex-West Bromwich Albion boss. “Ole can only get through it with his staff and then by putting the players on the right track.

“Your staff need to be right on top of their game. We get all the criticism and all the praise as managers, but if you haven’t got the right staff… the success I had, I couldn’t have done it without my staff.”

Ronaldo intervention revealed A young fan who ran onto the pitch in an attempt to meet Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed the United forward told security guards to stand down.

Addison Whelan, who is 11 years old, has been speaking about the moment she jumped over the barriers and approached Ronaldo at the end of the Republic of Ireland’s clash with Portugal on Thursday night.

Ronaldo was approached by the young fan at the end of the game. “Then I sprinted onto the pitch, but there were security guards running behind me and there was another two coming from the other corner so I just kept sprinting,” said the youngster, who was eventually handed Ronaldo’s match-worn shirt by the man himself.

“When I saw the other two coming from the other corner I ran more towards the halfway line so then I could swerve around them, but then they caught me. Then I was just screaming Ronaldo’s name. He turned around and he saw me and he was telling them to leave me.”

Parker concerned by De Gea reaction Former United defender Paul Parker has said he’s concerned by the morale in the squad at the moment.

That’s after an exchange that took place on the field between David De Gea and Luke Shaw during the team’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City before the international break.

Have any United players performed well so far this season? Have your say below

Shaw made an error in the build-up to City’s second goal and De Gea unleashed a verbal volley towards him. Parker said he was disappointed not to see more of the players so invested in the cause.

“Luke Shaw made a massive mistake in the derby which he should have dealt with. It didn’t start from him but it finished with him.

“He could have dealt with that and then turned round, saw where it came from and then pointed his finger. The only one having a go was David De Gea. You need someone in there to call players out. It’s your job.”
