Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Manchester United’s first match in the new Premier League season.
United begin the new campaign at home to fierce rivals Leeds on Saturday lunchtime and will be looking to lay down the gauntlet as they go in search of their first title in eight years.
United lost their first Premier League match last season, losing 3-1 at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace. They haven’t lost their opening top-flight match in consecutive seasons since 1972-73 and 1973-74, going on to be relegated in the latter season.
Solskjaer has confirmed Jadon Sancho will be in the squad for the opening match of the season but fellow summer signing Raphael Varane won’t be involved.

“You want to come to April and May and be in that.”
Pogba’s future”He is a Man United player, one year left on contract.
“It’s been spoken and written about so often, every discussion I’ve had with Paul is a positive one, he knows what we want and hopefully he keeps on in the background and they make decisions, it’ll always be like with this with Paul, he’s a media magnet.”
Safety measures in place this season”I don’t have any worries. I know the club we’ve got the measures and everything will be sorted.
“It is just great to share the game again live. Nothing can replace being there, the energy with the fans.”

Jurgen Klopp puzzled by United’s summer spendingThis could add an extra element to the press conference.
“We all know the situation of Chelsea and City and PSG,” Klopp said.
“What United are doing, I don’t know how they did it. We have our own way to do it. We are allowed to spend the money we earn, that we always did. This year we spent before we earned money with Konate because after last season, just to be clear, we cannot take any risk in this position at all.
“I’m never surprised about the financial power of Chelsea, City or United, I’ve been here long enough to know they always find a solution to these things.”
