Official: United Women starlet Jess Simpson signs on loan for Southampton

Manchester United Women starlet Jess Simpson has sealed a loan move away from the club.

Simpson joined United’s academy aged 11 years old from Burnley.

She has since represented the under-16s and the under-21s. She was also a part of the youth team that won the league and cup back in 2021/2022.

The defender made her debut for the senior team last year against Everton in the League cup.

In January 2025 she joined Bristol City on loan to gain first team experience.

Another chance on loan

The defender will go out on loan once again this year as she builds towards having a successful career at United.

The club’s official website reports that “Manchester United Women defender Jess Simpson has joined WSL2 side Southampton on loan for the 2025/26 season.”

The 20-year-old played in the World Sevens tournament in May, scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in a group game.

She added, “I’ve met a couple of the girls already and just seeing the togetherness in the team is already something special, hopefully we can achieve so much together and I’m excited for what the season holds.”

Simpson also posted on her personal X account, “I’m excited for this opportunity! Can’t wait to get this season started.”
