Official: United confirm red-hot forward has left Old Trafford permanently

Manchester United have released a statement confirming that Rasmus Hojlund has left the club on a permanent basis. United inserted an obligation for Napoli to buy him permanently if they secured Champions League football. Upon completion of this goal, Hojlund himself bid farewell to the Old Trafford faithful via social media. Now, United have announced as much. If Zirkzee also leaves, that would leave Benjamin Sesko as the only other senior and natural striker in Michael Carrick’s ranks. This simply cannot hold for a season that includes a Champions League return. At the moment, United appear to be prioritising midfield reinforcements. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that a full agreement is in place for Ederson to join the club from Atalanta. United are also looking at other midfielders including Mateus Fernandes, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba. Even so, United must make sure they aren’t left short up front.
