“Of course!”: PL enforcer dubbed “The Tank” openly declares he wants to play for United

Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has openly declared that he would love to play for Manchester United. United want a midfielder During the summer, United spent the bulk of their summer budget on bolstering the attacking department after a goal-shy 2024/25 campaign. The club spent north of £200m on the additions of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko from Wolves, Brentford and RB Leipzig respectively. United also signed goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp on deadline day. United explored a swoop for a midfielder, having identified Brighton’s Carlos Baleba as their top target. However, they pulled out of talks after becoming aware of the Seagulls’ prohibitive asking price. Interest in Baleba remains firm but he is not the only player on the list. The Red Devils are also keeping close tabs on the likes of Eliott Anderson (Nottingham Forest) and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace). There have also been suggestions that slightly more affordable alternatives like Noah Sadiki of Sunderland could come into play. What appears to be certain is that United will make a move for a midfielder and now, a player of a rival Premier League club has publicly offered himself. Onyeka makes frank United admission A tenacious and aggressive presser, Onyeka has emerged as a key player for Brentford, who are currently enjoying a good spell under Keith Andrews. Onyeka has kicked up an extra level at AFCON, where he has been dominant at the heart of Nigeria’s midfield alongside Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi. Nicknamed “The Tank,” Onyeka is truly living up to the tag, and it seems he also harbours great ambitions for his career. The 28-year-old caught up with a fan in Morocco and was asked whether he wants to play for United. He cheerfully answered [via Soccernet.ng], “Of course I want to play for Manchester United!” When it was put to him that Ruben Amorim is now gone, Onyeka said, “Yeah, I know.” While there’s no indication that Onyeka is a United target, his recent public remarks may make him worth keeping an eye on.
