Newcastle record their first PL win It took them 15 attempts, but Newcastle United finally recorded their first Premier League win of the season.

A Callum Wilson goal proved enough for the Magpies to edge past Burnley, and move onto 10 points, level on points with the Lancashire outfit and just three behind Watford, and Premier League safety.

The Eddie Howe-led side will now be looking to build on this win, but have a very tricky December coming up, with trips to Leicester City, Liverpool and Everton, as well as home ties against both Manchester clubs.

In truth, it is hard to see them picking up another point this calender year, which makes the January transfer window, and making it a success, all the more important.

Lille star the latest target in Newcastle United’s January Crosshairs Now as per the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic, Newcastle have set their January ambitions high.

According to the report, it is star Lille defender Sven Botman who has caught the eye of the powers that be on Tyneside, with a January move being mooted.

However, Lille do not want to sell cheap. Ornstein reports:

“It is likely to take an exceptional offer to prise him from Lille, but given their well-documented financial problems sources believe that an offer in the region of £40 million could prove sufficient.”

Would he be able to play a big part in keeping the Magpies in the top flight come May?
