Newcastle issue ultimatum to Sesko as United prepare to land knockout blow in transfer battle – reports

Manchester United’s chase for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko could be about to reach a swift conclusion as per the latest reports.

Newcastle are also eyeing the Slovenian, and recently, submitted a formal offer worth an initial £65 million plus another £4.3 million in add-ons.

It was swiftly rejected as the Bundesliga side are holding out for an initial £70 million plus a sell-on clause.

But now, as per Talksport, they have handed the 22-year-old an ultimatum. They want his response within the next 48 hours, as they do not want the saga to drag on.

Newcastle issue ultimatum

“Newcastle expect an answer from Benjamin Sesko as to whether he wants to join them within 48 hours, talkSPORT understands.

“The Magpies are confident they can reach an agreement with RB Leipzig, but do not want the saga to drag on.”

This has made INEOS sit up and take notice. And now, according to Sky Sports, the Red Devils are ready to submit a formal offer themselves.

This is significant as The Peoples Person had relayed that INEOS would not put in a bid unless they were sure of the player’s intention. So far, only verbal talks have taken place between the English giants and Leipzig.

Formal offer incoming

The report suggests that Benjamin Sesko will choose Old Trafford over St James’ Park as long as the 20-time English league champions can agree on a transfer fee with the German team.

“Manchester United are expected to make a formal offer to RB Leipzig for striker Benjamin Sesko.

“United have been in talks with Leipzig over what they would be prepared to pay.Sesko is open to both projects but one source has told Sky Sports News he is leaning towards Manchester United if they can agree a deal.”

As per both reports, things could be about to come to a head this week. And United fans will find out exactly which striker the club will sign this summer.
