The prosecution then argued that Trump spit on his supporters for months with his rhetoric about electoral fraud . He summoned his supporters to a meeting in Washington on January 6, the day Congress approved the vote, and said that electoral theft must be stopped.

It seems unlikely that enough Republicans will be turned to it. that Trump will be convicted. The Guardian quotes Senator Tim Scott as saying that at most six Republicans will vote by conviction. In order for Trump to be convicted, all Democratic senators and seventeen Republicans must vote with his guilt. Rick Scott, a Republican senator from Florida, said the trial was a complete waste of time.

The trial will be held at noon tomorrow local time, or at four o’clock in the afternoon Icelandic time.
