Napoli release official statement regarding president’s alleged comments about Alejandro Garnacho – Fabrizio Romano

SSC Napoli have denied that their president Aurelio De Laurentiis commented on Alejandro Garnacho’s potential move to the club yesterday.

The Argentine has constantly hit the headlines this January about a transfer away from Old Trafford.

Chelsea are said to be highly interested in the 20 year old and have reportedly lodged a bid for his services.

Napoli are also believed to have made a bid for the starlet but it has reportedly been rejected by the club.

The Italians have not given up on the signing and will likely make another effort to try to close a deal in the coming days.

It was reported last night that De Laurentiis bizarrelly questioned whether the United player would be able to score 20 goals for his team if he were to sign him.

It didn’t seem the most logical statement to make when the Italian side is so publicly pursuing the youngster and it now appears to have never happened.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano posted on X that “Napoli deny president de Laurentiis’ statement on Alejandro Garnacho.”

“No public statement from the president on Garnacho.”

Ruben Amorim also addressed the Youth Cup winner’s future after the game last night when he praised his performance and claimed he is a Manchester United player.

Nonetheless, he did leave the door open to a move by saying we shall see what happens in the next few days, hardly slamming the door shut to a move.

It will interesting to see what part, if any, the Argentine plays on Sunday evening at Fulham amid the rumours swirling over his future.
