More than half of United’s fans have tipped this summer signing to deliver the goods in front of goal

Manchester United fans have spoken on their choice for this season’s top goalscorer.

In recent years, midfielder Bruno Fernandes carried this burden, finishing as the team’s top scorer in 2021 and 2025. Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund have also had this distinction over the last five years.

With the addition of three new exciting signings in attack, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, fans will hope at least one of these three can score the most goals for the club.

Clear winner

According to a poll created by The Peoples Person, 58% of fans believe Sesko will excel and be the club’s top scorer for the next season.

The Slovenian managed 21 goals in all competitions last season but at 22-years-old, he has a lot of potential to grow into.

His height, physical strength, speed, heading and finishing ability should ensure that he is able to settle quickly into the Premier League.

Bryan Mbeumo second

The Cameroonian was also signed this summer but 18% of fans feel that he could also be the club’s top scorer for the season.

He took the honour for Brentford last season, finishing on 20 goals in the Premier League and more than any United player last season.

If his debut match against Arsenal is anything to go by, he can expect numerous chances to build up his goal tally.

Fernandes third

12% of fans voted for the captain to carry out the same duty he did last year.

Fernandes will likely remain the penalty and free kick taker in most circumstances and was the team’s top scorer with 19 goals last season in all competitions.

Nonetheless, he will likely play a lot of football in the midfield pivot and this will naturally detract from the number of chances he will have in front of goal.

Cunha fourth option

Cunha bagged 15 Premier League goals last season for Wolverhampton Wanderers and was heavily involved in the chance creation versus Arsenal on opening weekend.

10% fans believe he will be the club’s top scorer in the new season.

Finally only 1% feel Joshua Zirkzee could be the top scorer. The Dutchman is seen as very important this season to the Red Devils but his strengths tend to be in the build-up rather than finishing.

1% of readers stated that they expected another player to be the top scorer who does not appear on the list.
